Owen C. Bolte, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ida Grove Bancshares, Inc. and Chairman of the Board of United Bank of Iowa, is announcing the retirement of long-time director Curtis Rupert effective April 19, 2024, after 49 years of service. Rupert joined the board of United Bank of Iowa (formerly Ida County State Bank) and Ida Grove Bancshares, Inc. in 1975.

Bolte stated, “On behalf of United Bank of Iowa, I would like to express the utmost appreciation to Board Member Curt Rupert on his retirement after 49 years of service to the Boards of United Bank of Iowa and Ida Grove Bancshares, Inc. Curt was an instrumental member on various committees over his career, most notably on the Credit Review Committee where he provided expertise and guidance for United Bank of Iowa over multi-generations. Curt has been a big part of our success with his dedicated service to our organization.”

Rupert commented, “I have sincerely enjoyed being a director at United Bank of Iowa and working with the bank management team for 49 years. Throughout the years there have been many changes in the banking industry and I am very proud of the growth and success of United Bank of Iowa. I want to thank the hard working and dedicated staff who have definitely contributed to the growth and success. Most important, I want to thank all the customers for trusting United Bank of Iowa to help them with their business. Watching customers succeed has been very rewarding.”

Curt, who recently retired after farming most of his life, is still involved with agriculture and taking care of the family farm. Curt and his wife, Nancy, have moved to Holstein but often drive to the farm to see what’s going on, help, and give advice. Curt also enjoys tending his vegetable and melon gardens.

Curt and Nancy especially enjoy time with their family. They have one son, Mike, who teaches vocational agriculture and lives in Altoona, Iowa. Mike has three girls, Alli, Haley, and Kelsi, who attend college.
