United Bank of Iowa in Onawa recently made a $10,000 donation to the Monona County Fair Association to assist with their fundraising efforts to build a new grandstand at the fairgrounds. Earlier this year, the previous grandstand, a wooden structure that stood for more than 100 years, was lost due to arson. It has been a county-wide effort to raise funds to help the Fair Board construct a new grandstand.

As of July 6, 2026, which was the start of the Monona County Fair, the project - with an estimated cost of $350,000 - was mostly complete.
