UBI Presents First Strong Connection Award to Marcia Cates

 
 
Daniel Dotzler, President & CEO of United Bank of Iowa, is proud to announce the presentation of their first Strong Connection Award to Marcia Cates, Vice President Marketing, in recognition of her exceptional commitment to making a lasting difference in her community.
 
The Strong Connection Award was created to honor UBI employees who go above and beyond in giving back, volunteering, and building strong community connections. The award celebrates those who not only make a difference, but those who inspire others to do the same.
 
Marcia Cates was selected as the first recipient for her outstanding leadership of the Whitey Thompson Hike-Bike-A-Thon, with donations over the past 31 years totaling $1,633,957. She has served on the OABCIG Dollars for Scholars board for 25 years and currently serves as President. She is also the current president of PEO Chapter CB and serves on the marketing committee for the Ida Grove Economic Development Corporation. In the past, Marcia has served on Ida Grove Community Partners, as a RAGBRAI Co-Chair, with the Ida Grove Chamber of Commerce, and many church committees.

Dan commented, "Marcia's dedication, passion, and community spirit made her the perfect recipient of the Strong Connection Award for 2025. Marcia, who is retiring at the end of this year, has had a 40-year career with United Bank of Iowa. As head of the Marketing Department since 1998, she has made countless contributions to our UBI communities."
